Another year of the Illinois Mining Institute’s Annual Meeting has come and gone with great success. The event was held on August 27 & 28, 2019 at the Pavilion of the City of Marion in Marion, Illinois. This year featured 50 vendors and brought over 500 people which includes participants, vendors, and 15 mine rescue teams. Additionally, three high school sent nearly 100 students to tour the expo, watch a mine rescue competition and learn about the mining industry and the equipment they use.

The event began with the golf tournament on August 27th and was followed by the first ever “Night at the Mouse Races”.  This event was an instant success and gave all attendees a great chance to network.  On Wednesday, August 28th, the event continued with a busy day.  The mine rescue competition and expo ran all day,  while attendees had the chance to attend the symposium and several technical sessions. The event concluded with mine rescue awards, live music and dinner at Black Diamond Harley Davidson.

As always, the IMI is truly grateful for all who participated and continue help to make our event a success year after year.

Thanks to everyone who made the 2016 IMI Annual Event and Meeting a success! The event was held at The Pavilion in Marion, IL on August 23 & 24, 2016. We had almost 400 participants, another 200 including mine rescue personnel, 10 college and university students, five high schools with 110 students in attendance, plus 50 exhibits at the trade show. The technical sessions were conducted by leading experts, the golf tournament had great weather, and everyone enjoyed the reception at Kokopelli with speaker John Cabello. The event was concluded by the picnic at Black Diamond with live music.

Thanks to everyone who made the 2014 IMI Annual Event and Meeting a success! The event was held at The Pavilion in Marion, IL on September 9 & 10, 2014. We had almost 600 participants, another 250 including mine rescue personnel, 32 college and university students, five high schools with 145 students in attendance, plus 84 exhibits at the trade show. The technical sessions were conducted by leading experts, the golf tournament sold out, and everyone enjoyed the picnic at Black Diamond Harley Davidson. The awards banquet guest speaker, Alex Epstein, captured the attention of everyone present.

 

The 121st meeting of the Illinois Mining Institute was held on August 14 and 15, 2013 in Marion, Illinois. The expo hall was full to capacity and the technical sessions were outstanding and well-attended. Other events included a golf tournament, picnic, mine rescue competition, shooting range, and awards banquet.

The 120th meeting of the Illinois Mining Association was held on August 22 and 23, 2012 in Marion, Illinois. It was a huge success thanks to everyone’s participation!

Nearly 850 people attended the event that included a golf tournament, exhibitor expo with 72 companies participating, picnic, mine rescue competition, technical sessions, and an awards dinner with entertainment by a professional comedian! The feedback was overwhelmingly positive and everyone had a good time. Networking abounded, new contacts were formed, and old acquaintances renewed. Professionals from all aspects of the mining industry attended. People traveled from all over the State of Illinois, from North Carolina, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Kentucky, Missouri, Indiana, and as far as Colorado, Texas, and Utah.

The IMI holds its annual meeting generally in August or September of each year. This two-day event includes an exhibit hall, technical session presentations, mine rescue competition, golf tournament, picnic, and awards banquet.
