Award Nominations

The IMI is seeking nominations for apprentice, experienced, and outstanding manager or support personnel miner awards. Recipients are awarded the designation at the 2017 Annual Event Awards Banquet on Tuesday, August 29 at 6:30 p.m. at Kokopelli’s Clubhouse.

Apprentice Miner 

This award is designed to recognize exceptional performance of apprentice professional personnel working in Illinois mines.

Eligibility:

  1. Open to all mining engineering, or engineering technology graduates with less than five (5) years in the mining industry.
  2. Nominations will be made by the mine administration or corporate administration.
  3. No more than two nominations may be made from each company.
  4. Nominator must provide a letter justifying their nomination, including the nominee’s significant achievements.
  5. Curriculum vitae or resume of the nominee that includes work history and achievements must be included as part of the nomination.
  6. The winner may not be nominated again in this category.

Experienced Miner

This award is designed to recognize exceptional performance of experienced personnel working in Illinois mines.

 Eligibility:

  1. Open to all miners with greater than five (5) years experience in the mining industry who work at a mine.
  2. Nominations will be made by the mine administration.
  3. No more than two nominations may be made from each mine.
  4. Nominator must provide a letter justifying their nomination, including the nominee’s significant achievements.
  5. Curriculum vitae or resume of the nominee that includes work history and achievements must be included as part of the nomination.
  6. The winner may not be nominated again for at least five (5) years.

Outstanding Manager or Support Miner

This award is designed to recognize exceptional performance of managers or support personnel working in or with Illinois mines.

 Eligibility:

  1. Open to all managers/support personnel with greater than five (5) years experience in the mining industry who work with or at a mine.
  2. Nominations will be made by the mine administration.
  3. No more than two nominations may be made from each mine.
  4. Nominator must provide a letter justifying their nomination, including the nominee’s significant achievements.
  5. Curriculum vitae or resume of the nominee that includes work history and achievements must be included as part of the nomination.
  6. The winner may not be nominated again for at least five (5) years.
